Still Time to Register Your Non-profit for 2024 Give Local Alleghany Highlands

On May 21, 2024, nonprofits from Alleghany County and the City of Covington will compete for $35,000 in prizes during the fourth year of Give Local Alleghany Highlands. This online, 24-hour fundraising event gives all registered nonprofits an online platform to receive donations from community members, businesses, and local philanthropists.  Nonprofit organizations with programs that serve the residents of Alleghany County and the City of Covington can register at  until April 19, 2024.

In addition to the amounts raised by each nonprofit, $35,000 in prizes is available.  Six fundraising “power hours” add $9,000 in awarded prizes to nonprofits.  The Alleghany Foundation also awards $16,000 to the top 5 nonprofits that raise the most money overall during the giving window from May 7 to 21.  Randomly drawn, $200 “golden tickets” are selected every hour between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM on May 21. Finally, all participating organizations that receive at least ten donations of $5 or more during the event are eligible for a share of the $7,000 prize pool divided equally among all nonprofits that meet this goal. A more detailed look and schedule of  the prizes can be found here:

The competitive prizes will be split between large and small nonprofit organizations to ensure that all organization sizes can participate in Give Local Alleghany Highlands. More information about the prizes available during Give Local Alleghany Highlands is available at

“These prizes add an exciting element to the event and help community members make a big difference for their favorite nonprofits,” said Mary Fant Donnan, Executive Director of The Alleghany Foundation.
