Nonprofits Are Ready for the Third Year of Give Local Alleghany Highlands

There are 33 local nonprofit organizations participating in this year’s Give Local Alleghany Highlands. This 24-hour online fundraising event is taking place on May 23rd. The early giving window for the event is open right now. Every participating nonprofit has its own profile page on www.GiveLocalAH.org where community members can learn about the organization and make donations directly to that nonprofit. In the past two years, Give Local Alleghany Highlands has raised over $350,000 for local nonprofits.

The Alleghany Foundation and Ingevity have teamed up to provide $35,000 in prize money to participating nonprofits during this year’s event. This prize money will be awarded based on money raised by the nonprofits through several donor-giving competitions.

Donations made between May 9th and 11:59 PM on May 23rd will be counted towards the grand prize competition. This competition will award prizes to the five small and large organizations that raise the most money during Give Local Alleghany Highlands. Small organizations are nonprofits with an annual budget of less than $150,000, and large organizations are nonprofits with a budget of more than $150,000. The first-place nonprofit in each group will receive $3,000, second place will receive $2,000, third place will receive $1,500, fourth place will receive $1,000, and fifth place will receive $500. In addition, every organization that receives at least ten donations between now and May 23rd will receive an even split of a $7,000 prize pool.

Donors are encouraged to give online on May 23rd so that their donations count toward the time-based prizes offered that day. On May 23rd, The Alleghany Foundation and Ingevity are sponsoring time-based fundraising competitions including Power Hours and Golden Tickets.

There will be three Power Hours for small nonprofits and three Power Hours for large nonprofits. During each of these six hours $1,500 will be awarded to the nonprofit organization that raises the most money on www.GiveLocalAH.org.

In addition to these Power Hours, $3,000 will be awarded on May 23rd using randomly drawn Golden Tickets. There will be a $200 Golden Ticket drawn on the hour every hour between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM.
