The Alleghany Foundation in Covington, Virginia, is sponsoring a summer internship program in 2019 for undergraduate or graduate students who desire experience related to philanthropy, the non-profit sector, research, economic development, public education, public health, communications, or community service in the Alleghany Highlands. Internships are for a period of at least six consecutive weeks during the summer and may extend up to eight weeks. The starting date is approximately Monday, June 3, but negotiable. The Foundation provides a stipend for internships.
Natives of the Alleghany Highlands, residents, and/or students attending accredited colleges or universities in the state or region are eligible to apply. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in philanthropy, the non-profit sector, economic development, public health and/or community service. Applicants must also demonstrate strong communication skills, personal responsibility, self-motivation, and strong computer skills. Website technology and information management would be preferred.
